San Francisco Herb CompanyIs a society tea business environment?

Fact:
As a tea company, we are also a company environment. After all, our business is very dependent on 100% of the capacity of the earth to deliver season after season, an abundant harvest of Camellia sinensis (tea!). Soil fertility, rain clean, cold, damp fog and warm sun all have to contribute for us to take tea here in San Francisco. It is easy to take for granted our tea. It seems that we just wrote a check for our suppliers, and a week later, UPS delivers, as if by magic! But in reality, there are so many small details that have all conspired to tea tree to sprout in a 1300 years old in the jungles of southwestern China, and then appear in a cup in urban San Francisco. The fact that all components, from where and how it is grown, for people who pick, dry toast, packaging and shipping, for carriers that provide reliably for us week after week .... everything is all right, and we have our tea. It's magic.
There is always, always, always room for improvement. But we do our best, and had many accomplishments during the journey. We'd love to hear from you if you have any suggestions on areas for improvement. Here are a few acres, we have successfully applied our philosophy as a company - for our customers, employees and business partners.

1. Build-out:
Yerba Buena Gardens for our new location in downtown SF, we wanted to create a space based, sustainable, renewable, and that fit our style and aesthetic design. Bamboo is the ideal material because it is growing at a rate of 6 + inches a day throughout Asia. It is our main material for tables, counters, etc. For our "wall of tea," We chose years of recycled wood that not only creates a sense of age, but it's old! We really like the area as a whole because it is naturally temperature control, lots of windows offering Cross project when it is hot and full of solar heating for when it's cold and windy.

2. Product Offerings:
All our products (food, tea, tea service, and retail products) were selected based on environmental and economic sustainability, support and supply from local businesses, organic and fair trade connections. Please read this blog to learn more about our philosophy. Our specialty tea is an exclusive made by our friend and neighbor Drew Dewitt. The cups and cups chai were designed specifically for organic tea . They keep your beer warm, and your hands cool and are really, really sexy. Elegant and natural they look great in our store, but also at home. They will be sold this holiday season, so stay tuned.

3. Recycling
We opened our original location at 498 st Sanchez. in the neighborhood of Mission-Castro, nearly 4 years - and when we opened we had a garbage collection per week of 6 bins. We are now two bins, compost bins and 2, and 2 recycling bins. Our goal is to be 100% No waste, and we are working on educating our staff for making this a reality. In terms of disposable utensils, when we opened our doors in 2002, we thought all our paper products have been the environment. Recently, we discovered that the majority of paper cups and containers have a tight barrier inside them which is actually a laminate of oil will be around for hundreds of years! We have now to changing the course of paper products and utensils really from rapid composting materials such as fiber sugar cane, corn and unbleached recycled paper.

4. Local, really, really local goods:
We take a partnership with local bakers, artists and farmers to provide our customers with products that have minimal environmental impact on achieving the Farmer to You. We even wo.
