Soft Drinks for Hot cold winter days Maybe you have a large group of people during the holidays or maybe you just like to try a hot drink different from time to time. In both cases, here are some delicious hot drinks for you to try. HOT CHOCOLATE FOR A CROWD
1 1 / 2 cups sugar
1 1 / 4 cup cocoa powder
1 / 2 c. salt
3 / 4 cup hot water
1 gallon milk
v. 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
In a 6-quart saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa and salt and stir until well blended. Gradually add hot water to cocoa mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Boil for two minutes. Add milk and heat to serving temperature, stirring frequently. Do not boil after adding milk. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour into mugs and add the marshmallows, if desired. Add cinnamon sticks to use as stirrers if you want. Or for the Christmas season, candy canes to use as stirrers. It is not only decorative but it will also give your drink a slight taste of mint.
CREAMY MOCHA MIX hit
Note: This mixture is great to keep in the pantry for your own use. It also makes a great gift when packaged in a jar or container with enough instructions for use attached to a ribbon.
2 hard peppermint candy
1 / 2 cup non-dairy creamer
1 / 2 cup powdered sugar
1 / 4 cup instant coffee granules
2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
In a food processor or blender, finely crushed peppermint candy. Add candy to all the other ingredients and mix well. Store in an airtight container or jar.
Directions: Pour 2 tablespoons of the mixture above in a cup. Add 3 / 4 cup boiling water and stir. Garnish with a sugar cane stirrer, if desired.
