Lavender SeedsWhere can I buy Lavender seeds?

Have you experience of planting seeds of lavender? Can you share your experience and where to buy seeds? how the seeds look like?

Hello, I often put my seeds lavender, and to cultivate the next spring - I did not last year, otherwise I offer a few. These are small shiny black seeds. Otherwise, they are fairly easy from cuttings taken now.

Thomson and seeds Mogan sell, and my favorite is the variety Hidcote, named after the famous Hidcote Manor Gardens in England. http://www.tmseeds.com/product/9538.html

There are tons of types and varieties of lavender, so look for those that suit your tastes, location and the garden.

Types of French lavender are too showy, as http://www.tmseeds.com/product/9538.html

Lavenders are generally robust, although some are a little softer. If you can find someone who does not pruned their plants yet, there may be seeds in recent years the seeds, and these would be a good indicator of the ability of your community. Otherwise, ask a few cuts and roots partly sand / soil more / compost.

Hope this helps. Good luck! Fly

I usually buy the plant from my local nursery. Never tried to grow from seed. They are small football-shaped seeds gray.
They are perennials, once planted, they keep coming back each year.

Good luck!

I tried growing lavender from seed - it was a big mistake on my part - nothing came. The seed packet said they should be cold stratified. I have planted in the fall before the first frost ... but we had a real winter sweet (almost 60 in December / January) and nothing happened or I should say no lavender has been raised. I got what my husband called wild geraniums well - he has always tried to get out and I kept them back (I thought they were cool).

Anyway my plan for this year is that I'm going to the coldest theeeee greenhouse (my husband shudders if I even mention it) just before Mother's Day (my annual trip there) just before its opening year (merchants I find fantastic - he just sees $ $ $) and buying lavender plants. In this way, I'm sure a good start on my land lavender lilac / in my garden ....

But I definetely check to see if others have grown from seed of success. I bought my seed greenhouse ...
