Hot chocolate has a long history beginning with the Aztec drink called xocoatl. The drink was introduced to Europeans by Hernan Cortez. The Spaniards added a sweetener to the drink, they were struggling to pronounce xocoatl and changed the name of the chocolate drink. The English later changed the name of chocolate. We do not know who started the warming of the drink and called it hot chocolate, but I for one am very happy.

Aztec chili hot chocolate recipe

A chocolate spiced with chili.

Ingredients you need:
1 2 / 3 cups milk
1 / 2 vanilla bean, split length wise
1 red chilli, slit and seeded
1 cinnamon stick, around 3-4 "
1 1 / 2 oz chocolate (bitter)

How to prepare:
Simmer the milk in saucepan with vanilla bean, cinnamon and chili. Heat for about one minute. Whisk in grated chocolate, and cook until it melts. Remove from heat and let "steep" for another 10 minutes. Strain the spices and serve.
Serves 2.

Grand Marnier Hot Chocolate Recipe

Something different, I think you'll like.

Ingredients you need:
1 cup half n 'half
2 cups milk
1 / 2 orange juice
6 oz bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 / 3 cup Grand Marnier

How to prepare:
Heat half and half, milk and orange juice to boiling. In a bowl, add about 2 / 3 cup hot milk chocolate and whisk Smooth. Add remaining milk and whisk again. Simmer for about 2 minutes to heat through.
Add the Grand Marnier and serve.

Hot Chocolate Recipe Moscow

This recipe for hot chocolate will certainly keep you warm in cold weather.

Ingredients you need:
fluid ounce vanilla flavored vodka 3 / 4 oz amaretto liquide 1 tablespoon instant hot chocolate mix 4 fluid ounces hot milk

How to prepare:
In a coffee mug, pour the vanilla vodka, amaretto, and add the hot chocolate mix. Pour the hot milk and stir to mix well.
