Some bee facts really deserved to be shared, after all, both healing and health promotion opportunities for us humans start with this little busy creature. As you read the following 20 truths about honey bee, you'll be so intrigued just like me by the capabilities of this extraordinary man lowercase.

1. The bee has been around 30 million years.

2. It is the only insect that produces food eaten by humans.

3. The bees are environmentally friendly and are essential for pollination.

4. These are insects which are scientifically known as Apis mellifera.

5. They have six legs, two compound eyes consist of thousands of tiny lenses (one on each side of the head), three simple eyes on top of the head, two wings, a nectar pouch, and stomach.

6. The wings of the bee race 11,400 times per minute, making their distinctive buzz.

7. A bee can fly up to six miles, and as fast as 15 miles per hour, where he would fly about 90,000 miles - three times around the world - to produce one pound of honey.

8. The average honey bee will actually make only one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in his life.

9. It takes approximately 556 workers to gather 1 pound of honey from about 2 million flowers.

10. It is one ounce of honey to fuel a bee's flight around the world.

11. A bee visits 50-100 flowers during one collection trip.

12. A colony of bees consists of a queen bee and 20.000 to 60.000.

15. The male bees are called drones, and they do not work at all, do not sting, they are mating.

16. Each bee colony has a unique smell to identify members.

17. Workers do not bite, and only if they feel threatened and they die once they sting. Queens have a sting, but do not leave the hive to help defend.

18. It is estimated that 1100 bee stings should be fatal.

19. Bees communicate by "dancing".

20. During winter, honey bees feed on the honey they collected during the warmer months. They form a tight cluster in their hive to keep the queen warm.

The big plus I learned from honey bee creator itself, its highly organized society, how it acts in cooperation with such complex, and the various products of the hive, the more I admire and respect This amazing creature. It is not surprising that sometimes the colony is called a superorganism.
