Homemade Birthday Cake Recipes

recipe for homemade birthday cake?

My birthday is coming up next week and I think I'll make a homemade cake this year. Does anyone have good recipes for homemade cakes and icing? I prefer velvet cake yellow or red, but I would like to try something new if it is strongly recommended!

HERSHEY'S "Perfectly Chocolate" (Preparation time: 15 min | Cooking time: 30 min
Level of difficulty: Beginner Ingredients: 2 cups sugar
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 / 4 cup cocoa HERSHEY
1-1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 / 2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
"Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Frosting (recipe below)

Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two round 9-inch baking dish.

2. Mix sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, then beat at medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.

3. Bake 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost with "perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Frosting. 10-12 servings.

VARIATIONS:
cooking in one dish CAKE: Grease and flour 13x9x2 inches. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 35-40 minutes. Cool completely. Frost.

THREE Layer Cake: Grease and flour three 8 inch round baking pans. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 30-35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost.

Bundt Cake: Grease and flour bundt pan 12-cup. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 50-55 minutes. Cool 15 minutes, unmold onto a rack. Cool completely. Frost.

Cupcakes: Online muffin (2-1/2 inches in diameter) with paper cups cooked. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Fill the cups 2 / 3 of dough. Bake 22-25 minutes. Cool completely. Frost. About 30 cupcakes.

"Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Frosting

1 / 2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
2 / 3 cup cocoa HERSHEY
3 cups powdered sugar
1 / 3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Otherwise add the powdered sugar and milk, beating on the distribution of coherence. Add small amount additional milk, if necessary. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.

Best Yellow Layer Cake

Yield: Two 9-inch round, 2 inches high layers of cake, and, in theory, 22-24 cupcakes, two 8-inch square cake or a 9 x 13 single beds

4 cups cake flour 2 tablespoons more soup (not self-rising)
2 v. teaspoon baking powder
1 1 / 2 tsp teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
4 large eggs, at room temperature
2 cups buttermilk, well shaken

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter two 9-inch round cake pans and line with circles of parchment paper, then butter parchment. (Alternatively, you can use a cooking spray, or with just butter or butter and flour to speed up this process.)

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until pale and fluffy, then beat in vanilla. Add eggs one at time, mixing well and scraping bowl after each addition. At low speed, beat in buttermilk mix well (mixture will look curdled). Add flour mixture in three batches, mixing until each addition just Incorporated.
