Need ideas for making snowmen edible smallest in my class.? I do a lesson plan and want to make snowmen. I want an idea that children 19 months to 2 1 / 2 of age can do. I also want the project to be edible for them. I thought of using marshmallows, pretzel sticks and so on, but I want to see what people have other ideas. Only edible snowmen for now please. Thank you.
Use marshmallows and marshmallow cream to make paste. you can use different candies for the face.
use marshmallows for snowballs ... use some kind of chocolate or marshmallow sauce to stick to the stuff ... nose candy corn ... arms Liquorice ... candies for buttons and eyes ... that's all I can think of! Hope I helped!
Before cooking or wine tasting with children invite you to search their files in the office, children are allergic to foods - especially foods with peanut butter, eggs and nuts, and can also be others to worry about ..
good ideas, but most children this age will be able to stay on the field 3 to 5 minutes .... have a very open project .... give them some items safe to use and read a short story snowpeople and allow them to make their own interpretation .... Remember this age group is very likely to chew and swallow without choking can still easily .... several speakers gave ideas that are not really a good idea for this age group.
Use popcorn balls
Funny! I like the idea of best marshmallows (less damage) but there are also some recipes for edible dough there. I did a quick search and found one that:
peanut butter 1 c
1 c honey
2 c milk powder (for more consistency)
They could make balls of dough, then add the arms pretzels and raisins or gumdrops for the buttons.
Snowman Marshmallow his best, but you can make cookies white sugar and use icing to make them whiter. Then use raisins for eyes and one of those red licorice whips for thinner lips. You could do all the faces of snowmen or use cookie cutters and cut out shapes real snowman from your cookie dough.
you can make a snowman dish with vanilla wafers, each child loves cookies, and they are ok for little ones under 2 as well.
Marshmallows for the body, pretzel sticks for arms, and raisins or chocolate chips for eyes.
OR
Instead of marshmallows, a powdered donut hole, but could be more costly and less healthy
OR
the form snowman crazy or round cut in a tortilla (sp?), a carrot for the nose, raisins or slices of olive for eyes and buttons, and maybe a band of some kind of meats for a scarf. Maybe better for older children and that of a lunch / snack time activity.
We did it with marshmallows before. Take a sweater Twizzle & Peel and separate the scarf, use candy corn for nose and use tube icing to the color of eyes and mouth. My daughter thinks that candy kisses or mini m & ms would work for that too. To glue them together icing tube works well too. Although I imagine the marshmallow cream would be equally good. Adding some pretzel sticks for arms and you have a snowman entirely edible. Enjoy!
Make them with peppermint cream recipe ... children the pleasure of mixing and rolling mixture.and who cares if they arent fully round.lol
Marshmallows are dangerous for small children. They can not chew properly and they can plug the airways Childs. Maybe crispy rice balls.
