Why is it bad to cook with flaxseed oil? I accidentally used the linseed oil to cook the granola bars last night. Will I get sick if I eat these?
He writes on the label not the heat why?
There are some aspects to this, but the main ones is that the only benefits of flaxseed oil is in essential fatty acids that occur naturally in it, but these EFAs are destroyed by high heat (like cooking) . In other words, by heating and destroying the SGA, you remove all the benefits of flaxseed oil and do not better than any type of vegetable oil or cooking oil standard.
In addition to this, linseed oil is not very stable to heat, so if you oven long enough, he has more potential to become rancid. I discard and use a cooking oil better for the next batch. I hope I helped!
