Can I substitute regular flour with Bisquick baking mix for a cake? I'm out of flour for baking a cake and the recipe for 2 cups of flour and I have a cup of flour left. I have a box of Bisquick baking mix. Can I use this with the flour little I have left for a cake?
No you can not, because Bisquick has several ingredients, followed by the flour. If you do it will end in disaster. just buy flour that you cheep landscape.
Bisquick has Levening agents in it, so if your Bisquick not any more than six months since the purchase, use it as if it were a self rising flour.
Most substitutions of the self-rising flour in the cake depends on the amount of baking soda to the recipe. If you are not using the molasses, the basic rule is to reduce soda to 1 / 4 (to 1 / 2) v. teaspoon soda and omit the salt. Other recipes say to remove more than soda.
If your Bisquick over six months, then for sure some of the ingredients Levening have lost their punch, but go with the smaller quantity of your soda.
You should be ok, and there is only one way to find out. Try without Levening from you.
No, it has other ingredients besides flour.
