Is it possible to run a home oven with vegetable oil or biodiesel? Oil hit $ 100/barrel today, my fuel bill was outrageous (I live in the north-east) before the price was too high. As home heating oil is essentially diesel, and you can run on biodiesel / refined vegetable oil in a diesel car with virtually no change. Would it be possible to heat your home with them?
Until the system is set up to burn it, no problem. The oil viscosity is the same, so I doubt there will be many changes, if any. Consult a home heating company, or better yet, ask a company that sells biodiesel if they know what you need to make adjustments, and if they do. You can have your fuel tank emptied and cleaned, again ask the company to biodiesel.
My mechanic runs her oven to store of the old engine oil it receives from oil changes, but it must first filter.
