Baking Stoneware

Posted on March 2, 2010.
Baking StonewareCooking with stoneware bowls?

I have a recipe for a person sitting in the pots. I do not have 4 small casserole dishes. Do you think it will be OK for cooking in earthenware bowls (I do not know how to describe the bowls that come on a plate or bowl set)?

I really wanted to make pots individually instead of making a single pot.

I think it would be OK. Many recipes call for food simply because it's prettier, and / or is easier to carry, etc. Make sure that you can use the bowls in the oven.

My mother threw a few bowls of earthenware, as it turned out that the paint used to have traces of lead! I really suggest you consult the manufacturer's website and see what the consequences for heating the bowls can be - such as chemicals leaching or cracking even when you delete them.

Most dishes are marked on the bottom "in the oven, dishwasher" safe, etc. If your bowls are marked in the oven, then you're good to go.
