Baking Powder Gluten

Posted on January 29, 2010.
Baking Powder GlutenIs it the baking powder have gluten?

cocoa powder? Baking soda? butter? eggs?
I invited some friends to make a cake today, but one of them is fatally allergic to gluten. I want to make sure I can buy all the gluten free stuff.

Gluten is the protein found in wheat, barley and rye, plus a few other grains closely linked. No other food has gluten in its natural state, although that may be added during processing, which explains why the majority of processed foods, ready meals, convenience foods are not suitable for gluten intolerant. It is added either as part of a crust (pie, pizza), to hide a high-fat, to compensate for a low-fat (low fat yogurt) or as a thickener general. In the form of malt and soy sauce is also used as a flavor.

Flour Baking powder is usually added to make it easy to measure by the teaspoon. However, it may be the rice flour. I have a bit of baking powder, I bought before I realized I had an intolerance to gluten, and it contains flour, rice flour is not standardized, so it is gluten free .

Cocoa powder, if good, should not contain gluten. It is made from cocoa beans, and that these grains are not, they do not contain gluten.

Sodium bicarbonate - baking soda - do not contain gluten.

Butter is a dairy product. There is no reason why a manufacturer would add flour to it, it is gluten free.

The eggs are gluten free (except for eggs from Scotland, where they are treated in the breadcrumbs and sausagemeat also most likely contain gluten).

Gluten is a protein. It is found in wheat, rye, barley, oats and some products.

It is not in the baking powder, soda, eggs or butter.

The problem is that it is quite difficult to make a flour cake wo /. My guess is your friend just jump. Have him fruit snacks.
