Arbequina Olive

Posted on February 8, 2010.
Arbequina OliveHelp my Mexican palm five years old has severe frost damage?

He survived a few hard frosts, but this winter in central Texas was brutal, it is ALL brown now it has never been completely brown What do I do? The last freeze killed all my satsuma mandarins and lemons my Meyer. The only things that are OK are my pineapple guava and my Arbequina olive. If I lose my fan Mexican I'll cry. The fan of my and my Trachycarpus mediterreanean are beautiful because they have greater tolerance to cold, but the fan in Mexico is uncertain whether I can put it would be great. I am emotionally attached to it please help

You'll have to wait for warm weather whether he is dead. The terminal bud is fairly well insulated because it is inside the leaf petioles. Give lots of water now, and some fertilizer spikes in April.

The palm of Mexico is known as Hardy to about 20 degrees. I recommend just leaving the single tree and watch it. There is a good possibility he will send out new leaves from the top spring. Let me also leave the citrus alone until the time to see if they recover.
